When applied correctly, mulch provides many benefits for your landscape including weed suppression, moisture retention and soil temperature moderation. It also beautifies your landscape and improves the underlying soil quality, adding organic matter as it slowly breaks down. Mulch should usually be applied at a depth of 2-4”. It’s best to avoid direct contact with tree trunks or your home’s foundation.
